Your times stay yours
Quick checks
A quick check is worked out on the server and shown to you. The times, rates and stub numbers are not saved.
Tally Books
- A Tally Book has no account and no email. Its link holds a random 20-character key; only a one-way hash of the key is stored, so a lost link cannot be looked up.
- Each saved pay period is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) with a key made from your link and a server key. The first day of each period is kept in plain form so the book can be listed in order.
- A book that is not opened for 400 days is deleted, with everything in it. You can delete a period or the whole book at any time.
- Anyone who has the link can open the book. Keep it like a key.
Other data
- To limit abuse, the number of checks per address per hour is counted under a salted one-way hash of the address; those counters are deleted after two days.
- The forms use one security cookie (to stop forged form posts). There are no tracking or advertising cookies, no analytics services and no third-party fonts. The only outside script is the adengine.us banner ad described under Advertising, on the home, rules, pricing and about pages. The check page, results and Tally Books load nothing from other sites.
- Like every web host, the server keeps access logs (address, time, page) for a short time. Those logs include the full address of a Tally Book page.
- Nothing is sold or shared. There is no email list.
Advertising
The home, rules, pricing and about pages show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site. For now the ads are for WeldonPC’s own services. The check page, your results, Tally Books, print sheets, this page and the terms never show an ad, and the ad is left out when a page is printed. (Added 17 October 2026.)
To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your IP address and your browser type with those requests. The requests name this site; they never carry the address of the page you are on, and nothing you type into a check.
- No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
- How your IP address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your IP address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC’s own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
- What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (IP address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
- Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser’s site, which has its own privacy policy.
- Nothing about you is sold or shared.
